THE 2008 SENATOR'S CUP IS COMING TO BALTIMORE!
Following up on the huge success in 2007, this exciting match racing regatta will return for three days of competition starting Thursday, November 6 and ending with the finals on Saturday, November 8.

The 2008 edition of the Senator's Cup Match Racing Regatta, with America's Cup-style match race sailing, will take place Thursday, November 6th through Saturday, November 8th in the historic sailing waters of Baltimore's harbor. Feature competitors are America's Cup helmsmen Gavin Brady, Terry Hutchinson, John Bertrand, Chris Larson, David Dellenbaugh, Sally Barkow, and Gary Jobson going one-on-one!

The exciting match racing format is like that of the America's Cup. Racing on identical J-105 sailboats, each skipper and his or her crew will be pitted against only one other boat in head-to-head action. Past winners include Mark Fischer, Susan Taylor, Dawn Riley, John Pica, Gavin Brady, Terry Hutchinson, Chris Larson, and Chris Law.

Seeing the racing. The racing venue and the regatta center will belocated in Baltimore Harbor, convenient and accessible to the public. Highlights of the three day event are to be televised on MASN in late November. MASN is the Baltimore Orioles’ network which covers all Comcast, Verizon and Satellite channels from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania through North Carolina!. It will also be on a rerun program, and possibly more than once.

On the water video coverage will be provided by T2P Productions, the preeminent sailing television internet network. T2P’s thousands of subscribers can watch the regatta at any time on the internet. T2P provided on the water coverage in Valencia, Spain for the 2007 America’s Cup and has broadcast dozens of major sailing events in the past year.

A charity event. All proceeds from the Senator’s Cup benefit Living Classrooms, Special Olympics and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.


Special Olympics event. The 2007 Senator’s Cup will include an event with Special Olympics for the first ever Special Olympics Match Racing Championship trophy. Special Olympics athletes will sail in their own regatta on Saturday, November 9, in the Inner Harbor.

Social events. A party welcoming sponsors was held on Thursday; the party for the Special Olympics event was on Friday; the awards ceremony and regatta party was on Saturday at Living Classrooms.
